Ali Merthan Dündar is Professor at the Department of Eastern Languages and Literatures, Ankara University. He has published extensively on the topics of Japanese-Ottoman relations and the development of Islam in Japan in the 19th and 20th centuries. In his lecture, Professor Dündar will look at Japan’s policies to influence the Muslim world during the interwar period, especially with regard to the Turkic minorities of Russia.
