Abstract
How might a second Trump presidency impact China’s economic direction—and how could China respond? In this lecture, Prof. Yasheng Huang, a leading expert on China’s political economy, will explore the potential reactions and long-term implications for the Chinese economy in a shifting geopolitical landscape.
Prof. Huang holds the Epoch Foundation Professorship of Global Economics and Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He has served as Associate Dean at MIT Sloan and held academic positions at Harvard Business School and the University of Michigan.
Author of 13 books and numerous influential academic works on regulatory systems, historical autocracy, reform, and innovation, his recent book The Rise and Fall of the EAST (Yale University Press, 2023) was named a Foreign Affairs Best Book of the Year. His earlier work, Capitalism with Chinese Characteristics (2008), was selected by The Economist as a Best Book of the Year.
