First Steps

Planning to write a PhD thesis, you will first need a mentoring professor. In this respect, please contact one of our two professors in Indian Studies submitting your research proposal (title, abstract, or just possible research interests  - whatever you have to offer):

Further information concerning administrative matters around application and admission you will be provided by the Doctoral Commissioner of the Institute of Asian and Oriental Studies at the Graduate School of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Administration, Guidance, Information, Support

Starting from 2019 doctoral candidates will be ministered and guided by the Doktoral Commissioners of their discipline at the Graduate School at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Please contact the responsible person there with all your questions about admission, graduation, assessments etc.

Assistance with immigration formalities, entry and arrival, house hunting and various other organisational matters and challenges is offered by the International Scholars Center.
