Who are we?

These databases and e-learning materials were created - with financial aid from the Abteilung Digitale Lehre und Forschung at the Philosophische Fakultät (The Department Digital Teaching and Research) at the University of Zürich - at the Chair of Islamic Studies of Prof. Dr. Ulrich Rudolph, to whom we are much indebted on account of his support.

I have personally overseen project leadership, content creation and coordinating teamwork. The success of the project is greatly owed to two colleagues who have seen this project through since its start in 2013. Fabian Frei developed the coding and integrated the data sets with enormous creativity and commendable dedication. Prof. Dr. Henning Sievert proofread all the German text published on the site and, by way of his academic advice, consistently offered new impulses to the project.

The very aesthetic and witty drawings that add much artistic flair to Kalimāt were contributed to the project by Prof. Dr. Abdallah Saloumeh.

A number of students at the Institute of Asian and Oriental Studies completed the work of picture research, audio recordings, and the English translation and so have contributed to the advancement of the project. These are their names in alphabetical order:

Amir Ali, Mai Freigang, Salma Ghandour, Nicolas Hintermann, Katarina Roberts, Gian Steiner, Florina Vogel, Simone Wyss, Nader Zaraket.

Finally, my thanks go to the colleagues at the Stelle für Digitale Forschung und Lehre (The Department Digital Teaching and Research) who supported us with web design and coding and were always by our side when we had questions concerning informatics, especially Stephanie Odok, Christian Schorno, Anita Holdener and Lukas Loeffel.
