PhD Seminar/Workshop: Nature and Critical Ecology in Chinese Aesthetics, Literature, and Film

Outlines

Environmental degradation and ecological crises have given rise to critiques and cultural criticism. This class will study aesthetic ideas regarding nature, critical theory, and social ecology. Tapping into Frankfurt school critical ecologies, we will reconsider Chinese aesthetic traditions and study modern Chinese literature and film from an ecocritical perspective.
